AFGHANISTAN BIRTHING PROJECT
The work in Afghanistan is shepherded by Dr.
Gladys’ brother, Carl Taylor, M.D., who
is working through Future Generations
with Afghani colleagues. The
Foundation’s goal, in partnership with
them, is to help improve the maternal
mortality rate, which is currently
higher than anywhere in the world.
The challenge is
overcoming longtime cultural beliefs and
practices that affect the safety and
health of both mother and baby.
Respectful of their culture and norms,
we now have a group of more than thirty
Afghani women who, within their
villages, are teaching healthy practices
for the well-being and safe delivery for
mother and baby.
The Afghani
people are strong, courageous and
loving, in spite of the fact that their
country has been at war for the last
thirty years. We and they appreciate
your prayers and donations to keep this
important work alive.
These
women are putting to use knowledge
gained to create a safer lifestyle for
each other and their families.
